Green Canyon with children, from Side

A family week in Side tends to run on a rhythm — pool, beach, nap, dinner — and the question about any excursion is whether it breaks the rhythm or fits it. The canyon fits it better than most, for reasons that have nothing to do with marketing and everything to do with geography.

Why the lake suits children

It is fresh water with no waves and no current at the swimming breaks, entered from the catamaran with the crew present. It feels cooler than the sea at Side because it is spring-fed; children who have been in the Mediterranean all week notice the difference, usually with delight. There is shade on the slopes and open deck between swims.

2.5 or 4.5 hours with children

Both options are the same day: the same pickup, the same lunch, the same swimming breaks and fishing opportunity, the same return at around 15:00. What changes is how long the family spends cruising. If your children tire of the sun or of sitting still, the 2.5-hour option keeps the time on deck short; if they love the water, the 4.5-hour option gives them more of it.

The honest logistics

The things parents actually ask about:

• Ages and prices: children aged 3–11 pay the child rate of €20; adults are 12 and over. There is no separate infant price on the booking form — ask us about a child under three when you book.
• Pickup: at your hotel, at a time confirmed the day before. Breakfast first; swimwear under clothes.
• Lunch and drinks: an open buffet lunch and soft drinks on the catamaran are included on both options. Bring a snack for the road if your children eat early.
• Naps: the coach ride back is where they happen. The return journey begins at around 15:00.
• Shopping stops: none. The day is hotel, canyon, catamaran, back.
