Booking Green Canyon through your hotel or direct: what to ask
Quick answer
Whoever sells you the Green Canyon tour, ask six things: what exactly is included (lunch, drinks, transfer), how many hours are spent on the water, whether there are shopping stops, when you pay, what the cancellation terms are, and who operates the tour. Booking direct on this site: €33 per adult, 4.5 or 2.5 hours on the water, no shopping stops, pay on the day, free cancellation up to 48 hours before.
In Side the same canyon is sold at the hotel desk, by street stands, on marketplaces and by the operators themselves. We will not tell you everyone else is worse — some sell good tours. We will tell you what to compare, so that you compare the same day.
1. What is included?
Lunch, drinks, transfer, insurance. Drinks are the line that varies most — ours include soft drinks on the catamaran and an open buffet lunch on both options, while drinks at the restaurant are extra. A cheaper ticket that excludes the transfer is not cheaper.
2. How long on the water?
A Green Canyon day can mean very different amounts of time on the lake. Ask for the hours on the water, not the hours of the day. Ours: 4.5 or 2.5, depending on the option — with the same day, the same services and the same price either way.
3. Are there shopping stops?
Some excursion days include a stop at a shop on the way back. Ours do not — the operator confirmed it.
4. When do I pay — and what if I cancel?
Ask whether you pay now or on the day, and what happens if you cancel. Here: nothing online, payment on the day, free cancellation up to 48 hours before the start.
5. Who runs the tour?
Ask who the operator is and who you call if the coach is late. A seller who cannot answer is selling a seat on someone else's tour.
6. Is the price per person, for whom?
Check the age bands. Here adults are 12 and over and children aged 3–11 travel at a reduced rate, €20 per child.
